Black History Month Theatrical Performance| Providence City Council

2022 Black History Month Theatrical Performance put on by The Providence City Council. This project I had the opportunity to be apart of through an internship I took during my senior year of college.
During this internship I assisted the Providence City Council in producing their first-ever theatre production entitled: “Black History Month Theatrical Performance”. This production was produced for Black history month, with a focus on housing displacement (a current and pressing issue for the Providence community). In this internship I had many roles and responsibilities. This included: working as an assistant director to the Project Manager (Brandon Brown), helping to develop and stage the final performance. I assisted in stage management during rehearsals, making sure we were organized, on task and on time. I also acted in the production as Balbina Young (the first African American woman to be elected to any city council in the state of Rhode Island).
